Based on the accommodation booking platform, Vietnamese travelers are eagerly preparing to embark on trips via road or air during the upcoming Independence Day holiday. This long weekend marks the final opportunity of the year for them to fully indulge in their travel desires.

This event offers an ideal opportunity for family bonding, strategically scheduled right before the start of the school year.

According to Varun Grover, the Country Head of Booking.com in Vietnam, long weekends provide an excellent chance to temporarily escape from our daily routines and experience a refreshing getaway for relaxation.

Additionally, he notes that there has been an increase in demand for staycations and drivecations, with more travelers opting to explore nearby locations or enjoy city-based vacations. Many are choosing to use caravans as temporary vacation accommodations for these experiences.

Based on insights from tourism experts, the destinations featured on this year’s Booking.com list are predominantly recognized and popular among both domestic and international travelers.

According to the Travel Confidence Index 2023, beach destinations are highly preferred by Vietnamese travelers, with 61% choosing islands and beaches as their top destinations. Cities also rank high, with 60% favoring urban areas. This inclination is evident from the top 10 most searched domestic destinations for the upcoming holiday, where six out of the top 10 spots are occupied by beach destinations.

Top 10 Most-Searched Domestic Destinations for Independence Day Holiday

According to recent booking data, Danang proved to be the most popular destination for the National Holiday, with check-in dates ranging from September 2nd to September 4th. This was closely followed by Vung Tau and Nha Trang.

Among the top destinations in Vietnam, two major cities are Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, the list includes Da Lat, Mui Ne Beach, Ha Long City, Phu Quoc Island (find out more), and the ancient town of Hoi An.

According to the online data of guest searches from July 1 to August 14, this survey focuses on individuals who have made bookings between September 1 to 4. The respondents are aged 18 years or above and hold an influential position in planning their group’s upcoming travel.
