Condé Nast Traveler names Da Nang among top 11 Asian destinations in 2022

Da Nang is a modern beach city located near several UNESCO-recognized sites, including the ancient port city of Hoi An and the former imperial capital city of Hue. According to Condé Nast Traveler, Da Nang is one of Asia’s success stories in the post-COVID era. Despite the pandemic, the number of tourists visiting Da Nang has been consistently high.

In 2023, Vietnam Airlines resumed flights to Da Nang from key markets such as Japan and Taiwan, leading to a surge in passenger numbers. The city is also known for hosting an annual international fireworks festival, which attracts many foreign travelers in June.

One of the most attractive destinations in Da Nang is the Son Tra Peninsula, located about 10 kilometers from the city center. It offers beautiful beaches, pristine forests, and a 17-story, 220-foot statue of Lady Buddha. The peninsula is also home to endangered red-shanked douc langurs and other wildlife within its nature reserve. The reserve boasts nearly 1,000 plant species, including 22 rare and precious ones.

Another highlight of Da Nang is My Khe Beach, which was voted the eighth most beautiful beach in Asia by readers of TripAdvisor. The city is also renowned for its central Vietnamese food specialties, such as mi Quang and banh xeo. Many well-known hotel and resort brands have established a presence in Da Nang.

The InterContinental Sun Peninsula Resort, designed by Bill Bensley, recently underwent extensive renovations to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The resort now features a new club lounge, villas, and spa facilities on Son Tra Peninsula. Other notable additions to Da Nang’s hotel scene include the voco Ma Belle Danang by IHG Hotel Group and an upcoming Mandarin Oriental hotel.

Da Nang’s popularity as a tourist destination has caught the attention of hotel and resort developers, as noted by Condé Nast Traveler. In 2023, Vietnam eased visa regulations for foreign tourists, particularly those from Europe, to attract more international visitors to Da Nang.

The list of destinations also includes Singapore, Chinatown in Thailand, Kochi in India, Kobe in Japan, Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, and Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, among others.
